Co-translation a new strategy for collaborative publishers

gruppo-di-imprese

Do the math: you wrote a good story and we have taken three years. After you publish on Kindle Direct Publishing dedicate another year to promote it in the network. Imagine that getting to know someone choose to set a very low price, say € 0.99. In this case we assume that the discharge 500 people (and it would be a success). Are € 500 collection for the online retailer, and you shall recessed rights of € 350, before taxes. Imagine that 50% of those who bought it, does not end up reading it. Result, are more or less € 100 per year of labor and 250 readers. Now imagine that one of your French friend did the same, also a German, and then one Spanish and one English. Overall, for your five stories have dedicated 15 years to write and 5 to promote them, a total of 20 years of work, but you have earned virtually nothing and you have to hope that your readers will remain faithful reading your next story, for which will have to wait a few more years.

All this is not just exciting, then, change the perspective.

Take your story to which you have devoted three years of work. We are looking for four friends who love to write stories, just like you, and they know your language. Make an agreement: to translate your story in their own language, in a year or less. On behalf of a publisher would be paid based on the amount of translated words. Instead, get together to share the returns. After one year, your story will be published on Kindle Direct Publishing in five languages and in another year will have been promoted on the net. How long have you spent on the project? Three years to write, translate to four and five to promote it. Total of up to 12 years. 40% work less.

Now comes the fun part. The five friends promote the story on their social networks and assuming that 500 people have downloaded for each language, download are 2,500 and 1,250 readers who are ready to read a new story. Looking for a new friend who has a story to bring a dowry. Translate it in a year in four languages and publish on Kindle Direct Publishing.

Let’s call this “co-translation”, a new idea to compete in the world of the self-publishers and succeed together.
